Going On Map
Privacy Policy

Information GO handles
GO handles account details such as email address, username, display name, profile settings, authentication records, and a user identifier. When you use community features, GO stores content you choose to provide, including pins, locations, photos, comments, reactions, direct messages, friend and group relationships, reports, blocks, notification preferences, and profile images.
Location, camera, and photos
GO requests foreground location only after you choose a nearby-location or pin-placement action. GO does not collect background location. You can browse and choose locations manually without sharing device location. GO accesses only photos you select or take when you choose to add an image to GO.
How information is used
GO uses information to operate the community map, authenticate accounts, enforce visibility choices, provide groups and friend-only messaging, deliver requested activity information, prevent abuse, investigate reports, support users, and improve performance and reliability. Public pins and public profiles can be viewed by guests. Private content is limited according to the visibility settings and access controls selected in the app.
Service providers and diagnostics
GO uses Supabase for authentication, databases, and file storage; Apple Maps and OpenStreetMap-powered services for maps and location search; Expo to build and operate the mobile app; PostHog for product interaction analytics; and Sentry for crash, performance, and reliability diagnostics. These services process information only to provide their functions for GO. GO does not sell personal information or use cross-app advertising tracking.
Retention and security
Content remains until you delete it, it expires, moderation requires removal, or your account is deleted. Limited security, fraud-prevention, and abuse records may be retained when legally or operationally necessary. GO uses technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy choices
You can change profile and content visibility, manage blocked users and notification preferences, delete content you own, and permanently delete your account from Settings in GO. You can withdraw location, camera, photo, and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Account deletion removes the account and associated personal records covered by the in-app deletion process.
Children
GO is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information contrary to applicable law, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as GO changes. The current version and update date will remain available on this page. For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, or support, email support@goingonmap.com.
